BullDozier, you're not going to like the answer but it is what it is - your hand doesn't make a full house.

Omaha rules state you MUST play two cards out of your hand. When you do that you will be bumping two table cards out of the hand. Try as you might, there's no FH using two of your pocket cards.

You tried to play just one card (a four) - rules say gotta play two.

What if I had played 1 king and the four? Do you have to actually pick the cards you want to play? I thought it was automatic that the 2 cards that would produce the best hand would be picked.

Then your hand would be 3 fours youd have 3 of a kind

I would have had 3 fours and there were 2 fives on the flop making a full house.

BullDozier - as others have said you must use 2 cards from your hand.  Put another way - you must use exactly 3 cards from the table.

So you can't get to 3 fours and 2 fives using 3 cards from the table.  You need to take 4 cards from the table to get to a full house (you'd need to take 2 fours and 2 fives plus the last four from your hand) and that's not legal in Omaha.

Thanks for everyone's help anyway. I probably shouldn't play anymore until I understand the rules a little better.

Don't worry - you're not alone in learning.  Lots of people find Omaha confusing at first.

The Omaha link on my page doesn't work correctly. When I pick the Omaha icon it takes me to Texas Hold'em. I have been using the Omaha icon at the top in the "Whats Hot" column in order to play Omaha. Thanks

Never mind. The link is working ok. It was just me and Tom (Collins).

Yep, well not in Omaha. We're all use to laying our hands down and the best five sorta just float to the top making our hand. Not with Omaha.

Dougaroo said it best, you must pick two from your hand + three from the board and declare them to be your five card poker hand. I seem to think that's a silly tweak and I don't think too much of it. Game doesn't catch my interest.

It's not a good feeling to see that the Poker Gods dealt me a full house only to have the special rules reduce it to three of a kind. That's supposed to be fun? LOL, not for me.
