What are the benefits of hosting a party? I've hosted a few of them and it seems it costs me more to host it than to just attend one.

  Michael is correct - you get an extra charm as the host.  So when everyone else gets say 25 Champagnes you would get 26.

  It's just a gentle "thank you" for hosting.
